HOW MANY DIFFERENT CHEMICALS DO WOMEN PUT ON THEIR FACES EVERY DAY?

A UK company, Bionsen, determined that the average woman puts 515 different chemicals on her face every day, using a combination of makeup, perfumes, mascara, and other products.

The average woman uses 13 different products daily, and each product contains at least 20 different ingredients — lipsticks and other makeup average 30 ingredients, and some perfumes can have as many as 400 different ingredients.

It gets scarier from there. You pay attention to the labels on food you eat, but have you paid attention to the ingredient list on your personal grooming products… if those products even contain ingredient lists in the first place?

We know that the best bagel places are always right next door to the city’s best chinese restaurants. We don’t know why this is (shrimp & lobster sauce is kosher, right?), but we’ve seen the two together more often than not.

So of course we read THE HISTORY OF THE BAGEL GUILLOTINE SLICER in the Wall Street Journal, where we learned about the most dangerous foods that cause the most emergency room visits.

October was breast cancer awareness month, as Web Watch noted by sharing National Feel Your Boobies Week and other sites with you.

Not to feel left out, November is dedicated to raising awareness of various men’s cancers, with programs encouraging men to get prostate exams or testicular cancer checks.

Which is why every November, men are encouraged to sign up at the official MOVEMBER website to help spread the word and raise money for various organizations.

Courtesy of a now-defunct online ad campaign by Target to promote regular breast exams called “Check Out My Breasts”, here are seven things to look for when performing your own self-examination:

Check for any unusual thickening of the breast tissue. Raise your arm above your head, and apply pressure in small circles with your fingers.
Check that one breast hasn’t become larger or lower than the other.
Check for any changes to your nipples or any skin irritations around them.
